SUMMARY:Intro to Python for Librarians (a Short Course)
DESCRIPTION: \n\nOptionally\, from 1:00-1:30\, the instructor will provide
assistance with setting up your computing environment. From 1:30 onward\,
we’ll bring participants from their first line of code to foundational
programming skills including data structures\, conditional logic\, and
looping. Then\, we will survey ways for librarians to apply python
programming: e.g. working with databases for research or collection
management (SQL)\, making data pipelines for analytics or cleaning
(pandas)\, and automating workflows in web applications such as searching
(robotic process automation).\n\nThere are no prerequisites. Starter code
and notes will be provided to facilitate exercises during the session. Code
for the examples will also be provided.\n\n
