Introduction to Python

This workshop series provides an introduction into the world of Python and its various tools for researchers. Topics for this course include: variables, lists, loops, functions, modules and a variety of useful packages like NumPy or Matplotlib. The course is not an introduction to programming, so attendees are expected to have a base level of knowledge on at least one other programming language.

Oct 13: Overview, 'Hello World!,' variables and assignment
Oct 20: Conditionals, functions
Oct 27: Loops, lists, tuples, dictionaries
Nov 03: Objects, methods, modules
Nov 10: Package management via PiP and Conda
Nov 17: Efficient Python programming with NumPy
Nov 24: No class -- Thanksgiving Break
Dec 01: Plotting with Matplotlib
Dec 08: H5Py
