Connecting Community and Culture: Mindful Reading Practice of Linda Sarsour excerpt
This workshop focuses on an excerpt from Linda Sarsour in our Buffs One Read book, American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures by America Ferrera. The essay focuses on themes of radical love, solidarity and community. During our time together, we will introduce ourselves to this essay and reorient to a slower reading practice. We will share responses not with an aim of expertise, but instead with the aim of listening to ourselves and one another. This session is for anyone interested in learning more about American Like Me and contemplative reading techniques. You are invited to attend whether or not you’ve read American Like Me.
This workshop is part of a four part series, Connecting Community and Culture, which invites community engagement with the 2021 Buffs One Read. Members of the CU Boulder community are invited to attend any or all of the sessions. You are invited to attend whether or not you’ve read American Like Me. All materials, readings, and supplies will be provided during the workshop.
