OpenRefine (formerly known as Google Refine) is a free and open source application used for cleaning and transforming data. It is particularly useful for working with messy data and is actually quite easy to use! Phil White will introduce workshop participants to the interface and will then walk everyone through solving a few common data-cleaning problems. Please bring your own laptop with OpenRefine pre-installed (download OpenRefine at: http://openrefine.org/download.html).
