Web Scraping Workshop

Anthony Pinter, PhD candidate in Information Science, will be hosting a hands-on introductory web scraping workshop.

Web scraping is a common tool for librarians, archivists, and researchers to collect data. There are a plethora of tools available to accomplish this task. However, every tool has its limitations. In this workshop, we will demonstrate some of these limitations via a case study approach. Then we will use a practical, hands-on demonstration to assist workshop participants in implementing one of the tools discussed, enabling them to leave the workshop with an understanding of how to add this tool to their scraping repertoires.

Some knowledge of Python, HTML, and CSS will help participants in this workshop, but is not necessary for full involvement.

The workshop is aimed at library professionals but open to everyone. Please bring a laptop.
