Working with US Census Data in R
Monday, May 19th at 1pm
This hands-on two-hour workshop provides an overview of the United States Census, and related data products (i.e. the American Community Survey). Our focus will be on accessing, processing, analyzing, and visualizing Census data using R Studio (in particular, through R's tidycensus package). If time permits, we will also briefly explore R packages that allow for the use of census data products from other countries.
Some prior experience with the R programming language would be beneficial, but is not required. Registrants should download R and R Studio, as well as obtain a Census API key, before the start of the workshop. Please consult the following for assistance with downloading R and R Studio (A Installing R and RStudio | Hands-On Programming with R ). You can register for a Census API key at this link: Key Signup . If you need additional assistance with downloading R and R Studio, or with acquiring a Census API key, please reach out to CRDDS.
